Chicken Shawarma Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Chicken Marinade:

500g chicken thighs (boneless, skinless)

3 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp yogurt

1 tbsp lemon juice

3 garlic cloves (minced)

1 tbsp ground cumin

1 tbsp ground paprika

1 tsp ground turmeric

1 tsp ground coriander

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Garlic Sauce:

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 tbsp garlic (minced)

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tbsp olive oil

Salt to taste

To Serve:

Pita bread or flatbread

Sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and lettuce

Pickled vegetables (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Chicken:

In a bowl, mix olive oil, yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, coriander, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.

Coat the chicken thighs with the marinade and let it sit for at least 1 hour (overnight for the best flavor).

  1. Cook the Chicken:

Preheat a grill or a skillet over medium-high heat.

Grill the chicken for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and slightly charred.

  1. Prepare the Garlic Sauce:

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, and salt.

Mix until smooth.

  1. Assemble the Shawarma:

Slice the cooked chicken into thin strips.

Warm the pita or flatbread, and place some sliced chicken in the center.

Add tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, lettuce, and pickled vegetables if desired.

Drizzle with the garlic sauce.

  1. Serve and Enjoy:

Roll up the pita or flatbread around the fillings and serve immediately.
